Steps

  • Get a bag an a half of smeed (half course and half soft).

  • To the smeed, add 1 teaspoon of mahlab and 1 and 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter. Mix together until butter is absorbed. Cover and let it sit overnight.

  • Add baking powder and room temperature water as needed until it becomes dough.

  • Now get date paste and add cinnamon and add enough olive oil to it until it doesn't stick. Take it apart piece by piece and roll pieces up into semi-thin strings for cookie filling.

  • Take the dough a make it into little balls. flatten each ball and make them long. Take the date paste strings and put them on the dough, then close them up and attach the ends to each other.

  • Heat your oven to 400 degrees and bake until golden.
